So I'm a trans person formulating a plan to get out of Tennessee, and my main obstacles are that I have a lot of Processes to get through and not much money. If anyone has a few dollars to spare and wants to help with the latter, my Ko-Fi is here.

Pinned Post first off I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who's helped. Y'all are literally lifesavers secondly I have to say. I've had a headache and eye pain for three months and my doctor wants me to get an MRI and every time I mention it my mom blows up at me and turns it into an argument so I'm not getting help there help would be so so appreciated so I can find out if my pain is being caused by something seriously wrong with my brain I'm trying to be brave and optimistic and to tell myself I'll be fine but I'm really scared

I voted "Jessie and Delia relationship" because that's the closest answer when I think about what appeals to me most, taking everything into account.

I started writing fics inspired by these comics back in March, but before then I started work on Strange Arrangements, a James/Oak fic wherein the boys get together initially because their exes are engaged to each other. So the first thing that attracts me to Hanamusashipping is how it affects the other characters. Even if you're not a Rocket- or Eldershipper, Hanamusa creates a split - a small one - in our TRio. They no longer live all together, they're not together 24/7. There's great potential for angst there, if you want it, and I'm exploring that in my own AU. Then, depending on how involved you think Professor Oak was as a father/grandfather-figure/male role model to Ash growing up, there's potential for friction between him and Jessie as Ash's step-mom. Or maybe just some disapproval on his end over Delia's choice of partner. Of course, angst is not the only thing you can get out of this - James and Meowth form their own relationships with Delia and Ash and Professor Oak. I really like the idea of Meowth having the prof or Delia as a boss and getting spoiled with praise and pets, something he always craved from Giovanni but never got.

Then, as I wrote Hanamusa myself in my own AU, I started to think about how the ship changes Jessie. Not just physically, although mom bod!Jessie is adorable. We've seen flashbacks of Jessie as a young girl and a teenager. We know she wasn't always mean and nasty. We've had glimpses into what made her that way - being mocked by the other kids because she couldn't afford the cool pencilcase that was all the rage, and only had one pencil anyway. Being told right out of the gate that going to nursing school wasn't an option. Going to Chansey nursing school only for everyone to be horrible to her. And we see how she relates to James and Meowth - the TRio bicker and argue constantly, they hurt each other and gloss over it because they're a team and have no-one else. Delia's gentle and big-hearted and she expects a proper apology if you hurt her feelings. Jessie has to change how she behaves, not just with Delia but with Ash too. That could also make her re-examine how she talks to and treats James and Meowth, something I've explored and will be exploring more in Strange Arrangements.

Finally, while I was writing An End and A Beginning, the trade fic for @yamujiburo, I got thinking about Delia. And how Jessie would never leave her. Jessie's wanted stability and domesticity for a long time. Delia's role in the show is to pack Ash's backpack before each adventure and send him off with a kiss and a wave and an admonishment to change his underwear (and considering he slept in the same grotty cargo pants he wore all through Diamond and Pearl, on Dawn's mother's nice clean bedclothes, I doubt he's doing that). But her (ex?) husband is gone - we've never seen him. Per some versions of canon, her father took off too. Ash keeps leaving, but that's forgivable. He's a child, you have to let them fly the next. Jessie'd never leave. Jessie loves the people she loves fiercely and whole-heartedly. It's why she left James and Meowth behind when it looked like they were happy with Cassidy and Butch. It's why she left Doctor Dreamy to bail James and Meowth out of a jam. It's why she went up that mountain to rescue James from the shiny Metagross. It's why she stamped on Dustox's Pokéball and told her to go with the male Dustox. It's why she screamed for Arbok to run while she and James fought that poacher's Pokémon with their bare hands. It's why she threw her last quarter into the stadium so the islanders would think Meowth had learned Payday. In Jessie, Delia has someone who's There. Ride or die, that's how she rolls.

It's a hell of a ship. A fantastic source of inspiration to me, and just really fun to think about.

Hey, so I’m trying to test something and I want you lots’ thoughts. How do you think modern fandom compares to fandom from a few years ago?

I’m a creator and it’s better!

I’m not a creator and it’s better!

I’m a creator and it’s worse

I’m not a creator and it’s worse

I’m a creator and it’s a mixed bag

I’m not a creator and it’s a mixed bag

I’m new to fandom/have no strong opinion

(Please feel free to elaborate why in the tags)

((Also to clarify, I’m not talking about a specific fandom, I just mean the fandom experience in general))

creator and mixed bag on the plus side homophobia doesn't run quite as rampant in fandoms and most people aren't friendly with open bigots and AO3 is a haven of fics not disappearing without a trace for unknown reasons but at the same time it has become Worrying to be a creative when AI is stealing from everyone and people love to make disliking things a moral crusade where if you like a character who did bad things you're a bad person

gaining weight is good and being fat is good and nourishing your body is good and resting is good. fat bodies and disabled bodies and queer bodies and all marginalized bodies are good and deserve to be celebrated. your body does not have to be relegated to the sphere of neutrality or tolerance or acceptance. the world is *better* because your body is in it. the world is better because you are in it.
